Владимира Высоцкого знает почти каждый человек в России, и открытие памятника этому замечательному музыканту вызвало большой интерес и одобрение в обществе. Однажды Высоцкий сказал: «Но не поставят мне памятник в сквере, где-нибудь у Петровскиих ворот». Видимо, руководствуясь этими словами, памятник разместили именно там. Выбор этого места очень символичен и показывает признание Высоцкого всей страной. В наше время памятник Владимиру Высоцкому является местом сбора его поклонников в день рождения и день смерти певца.
